On 23 July 2025, the Stop Artificial Intelligence Price Gouging and Wage Fixing Act of 2025 was introduced to the House of Representatives. The Act aims to ban the use of automated decision systems that rely on surveillance data to set personalised prices or wages. The Act prohibits surveillance-based pricing and wage-setting unless specific transparency and fairness conditions are met, including the clear disclosure of group discounts or cost-of-living-based wage adjustments. It applies broadly across sectors, including to non-profits and common carriers, and requires companies to publish data accuracy procedures and explain how their systems determine prices or wages. Enforcement is enabled through the Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general, and private lawsuits, with remedies of up to USD 3,000 per violation.
