Republic of Korea: Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology launched the Artificial Intelligence - based early response system for child and youth sexual exploitation online

On 23 July 2025, the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology launched the Artificial Intelligence (AI) -based early response system for child and youth sexual exploitation online ICT (MSIT). The system applies to online platforms hosting content related to child and youth sexual exploitation. It introduces a self-learning AI system for continuous monitoring, automatic detection of harmful keywords and images, and Application Programming Interface-driven reporting and deletion of illegal content, replacing previous manual methods. The Korea Women’s Human Rights Institute will support victim counselling and response within platforms. The project aims to establish an integrated, systematic framework for early detection, deletion support, and victim protection.
