European Union: China-European Union issued declaration establishing working group on cross-border data flows in automotive sector

On 17 July 2025, the European Union and China, following a meeting under the Cross-Border Data Flow Exchange Mechanism, announced the establishment of a dedicated Working Group on cross-border data flows in the automotive sector. Participants reviewed progress made since the mechanism's launch, which aims to facilitate the secure and efficient exchange of data between China and the European Union. Discussions focused on strengthening the mechanism to better reflect industry needs and support mutual alignment and interoperability of relevant rules.
