Published FTC guide on online reviews for platforms

The FTC has published the guide: "Soliciting and paying for online reviews: a guide for platforms". The guide contains various pieces of advice for the platforms and websites that implement a system of online reviews. The guide suggests not to ask for reviews from customers that will be more likely positive about the product, not to offer incentives for positive reviews, not to obstacle the negative reviews, not to alter reviews, not to discriminate between positive and negative reviews. Further, the guide suggests to show potential connections between the reviewer and the product provider, disclosing the review collection and aggregation process, and establishing procedures to tackle fake reviews.
