On 4 July 2025, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) announced the adoption of the Data Protection Trustmark (DPTM) as a national certification standard, designated SS 714:2025. The standard is voluntary and enables organisations to demonstrate accountable data protection practices and build trust with consumers and stakeholders by strengthening alignment with global data protection benchmarks. The revised standard introduces updated language to clarify certification requirements and a streamlined process allowing organisations to work with a single certification body throughout their assessment. Certification bodies appointed by the IMDA are subject to oversight by the Singapore Accreditation Council to ensure assessments meet internationally recognised standards. Certified organisations undergo annual surveillance audits to maintain certification and demonstrate continued data protection commitment. Official resources, such as a mapping document and an implementation guide for SS 714:2025, are available to support implementation. The scheme is supported by a list of accredited certification bodies and a reference directory of consultancy service providers, though these providers are not endorsed by IMDA.
