Competition and Consumer Commission sanctions Quantum Globe for misleading AI-generated reviews on Sgcarmart

On 3 July 2025, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) took enforcement action against Quantum Globe Private Limited, the company behind Lambency Detailing, for misleading consumers by publishing fake five-star reviews on its Sgcarmart business page. These reviews were generated using ChatGPT and falsely appeared to come from real customers, whose personal details were used without consent. CCCS found this to be an unfair trade practice under consumer protection rules. As part of a corrective settlement, Quantum Globe has agreed to cease the use of fake reviews, notify affected customers, remove misleading content, issue public notices, and maintain a six-month feedback channel for consumer complaints.
