Description

European Commission opened consultation as part of first review of Digital Markets Act

On 3 July 2025, the European Commission opened a consultation on the first review of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) until 24 September 2025. The consultation aims to gather evidence on the effectiveness of the DMA in achieving its objectives of ensuring contestable and fair digital markets. The Commission is assessing whether the aims of the DMA have been achieved, its impact on business users (especially small and medium-sized enterprises) and end users, whether the scope of the interoperability obligation (Article 7 DMA) should be extended to online social networking services, and whether rules require modification, including concerning the list of core platform services, obligations in Articles 5, 6, and 7 DMA, and their enforcement. Feedback from this consultation will inform a Commission report assessing the DMA's impact and necessary measures.
