China: TC260 opened consultation on Guidelines on Cybersecurity Protection for AI-Generated Synthetic Content Identification Metadata

On 24 June 2025, the Secretariat of the National Cybersecurity Standardisation Technical Committee opened a consultation on the Guidelines on Cybersecurity Protection for AI-Generated Synthetic Content Identification Metadata, until 6 July 2025. The guideline aims to provide technical guidance, implementation instructions, and reference formats for security protection related to file metadata, which is used in AI-generated synthetic content labelling. It would address security risks such as identification forgery, tampering, and association breakdown due to the publicly readable nature of file metadata. The document details security requirements, including the protection of the authenticity and integrity of file metadata. It also outlines security protection technologies such as digital signatures, message authentication codes, digital certificates, and cryptographic hash or content fingerprint-based binding mechanisms.
