On 26 June 2025, the Danish Ministry of Culture announced a proposal to amend the Copyright Act prohibiting unauthorised sharing of realistic, digitally generated imitations of personal characteristics. The proposal applies to creators, distributors, and hosting platforms involved in sharing manipulated content that falsely depicts individuals or artists. It introduces two key protections, a general ban on sharing digital imitations of personal traits, including appearance and voice, without consent, and specific protection for performing artists against unauthorised use of their performances. The rules will support the enforcement of takedown obligations under the European Union's Digital Services Act and enable individuals to request content removal, although no criminal penalties will apply.
