Chinese Taipei: Ministry of Economic Affairs updated strategic high technology goods export entity management list to include Huawei and SMIC

On 15 June 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs updated the strategic high-technology goods export entity management list to include 601 additional entities involved in arms proliferation, including Huawei and SMIC. The update affects Taiwanese exporters of strategic high-technology goods, who are required to obtain prior export licences before transacting with listed entities. The updated list, informed by international sanctions and national security considerations, is enforced through customs inspections, and unauthorised exports will be blocked. The update also urged businesses to conduct due diligence, assess transaction risks, and comply with export control regulations, with promotional briefings to support implementation.
