On 23 June 2025, the UK Government released the Modern Industrial Strategy: Creative Industries Sector Plan. The strategy outlines the UK’s objectives to strengthen its global position in the creative industries by 2035. It focuses on key subsectors including film and television, video games, music, performing and visual arts, and advertising and marketing. Measures include a GBP 75 million Screen Growth Package and a GBP 30 million Games Growth Package to support innovation and workforce development. A GBP 150 million Creative Places Growth Fund is allocated to 6 Mayoral Combined Authorities to promote regional creative cluster development. The strategy also emphasises the role of public service media, the modernisation of international co-production treaties, and the protection of intellectual property in a digital environment. Additional priorities include expanding education and skills provision, improving trade and export performance, and fostering sustainable growth through updated regulatory frameworks and environmental commitments. The strategy recognises the interdependence of large organisations and independent creators within the sector and highlights the need to sustain a diverse creative ecosystem.
