Office of Attorney General opens consultation on proposed rules implementing New Jersey Data Privacy Act

On 2 June 2025, the Office of the Attorney General opens consultation on proposed rules implementing New Jersey Data Privacy Act, until 1 August 2025. The Act applies to data controllers handling New Jersey consumers’ personal data during business transactions. The rules require controllers to notify consumers about data collection and sharing, offer rights to access, correct, delete, and port their data, limit data collection to what is necessary, enable universal opt-out mechanisms, and obtain consent before processing sensitive data or children’s data for advertising or sale, with additional protections for children under 13.
