Description

Competition Authority announced investigation into Google over alleged abuse of dominance in online advertising (Decision No. 25-22/519-M)

On 12 June 2025, the Turkish Competition Authority opened an investigation into Google over abuse of dominance in online advertising. The investigation focuses on whether Google abused its dominance in search-based advertising by using its Performance Max (PMAX) campaign to favour its broader advertisement ecosystem. The investigation will also examine whether Google engaged in exploitative practices due to PMAX’s lack of transparency and control, and distorted competition by combining data from services such as Chrome and Android. It was highlighted that PMAX uses artificial intelligence to optimise ad placements across Google’s inventory.
