G7: G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities adopted communiqué on championing privacy in a digital age

On 19 June 2025, the G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities (DPAs) issued a Communiqué following their fifth roundtable meeting hosted by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. The Communiqué applies to developers, innovators, and organisations processing personal data, specifically in sectors involving artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and connected devices. It outlines joint commitments to operationalise Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT), promote responsible innovation, including privacy-by-design approaches and child protection, and enhance enforcement cooperation through shared case formats and multilateral practices.
