National Data Administration closes a consultation on research priorities for digital technology and data infrastructure

On 30 June 2025, the Digital Technology and Infrastructure Development Department of China’s National Data Administration (NDA) closes a consultation on research priorities for digital technology and data infrastructure. The consultation sought input from qualified institutions on key technical and strategic challenges that could inform future policymaking. The NDA outlined six focus areas, including developing high-quality data sets for specialised use cases such as robotics and autonomous systems, analysing trends and business models in the data annotation industry, identifying replicable infrastructure solutions for industry-specific data systems and establishing standardised methods for tracking energy consumption in data centres. It also focused on creating collaborative models for digital talent development and building an indicator system to monitor the digital talent pipeline.
