Description

Competition and Consumer Commission issued ruling in investigation into National Australia Bank Limited over alleged contraventions of data disclosure requirements under the Consumer Data Right Rules

On 19 June 2025, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced that National Australia Bank Limited (NAB) paid penalties totalling AUD 751,200 for alleged contraventions of the Consumer Data Right (CDR) Rules. The fine followed four infringement notices issued for failures to disclose or accurately disclose credit limit data in response to requests from CDR-accredited providers. The CDR requires data holders to provide accurate, up-to-date, and complete consumer data in the required format to enable services such as product comparisons and financial management tools. It was highlighted that data quality issues impacted financial technology services, including mortgage broking tools that rely on CDR data.
