Description

Commerce Commission adopted an order approving Omnicom's acquisition of Interpublic

On 16 June 2025, the Commerce Commission granted clearance for Omnicom Group to acquire 100% of the shares in The Interpublic Group of Companies. The clearance applies to providers of marketing and communications services (MCS) and media buying services (MBS) in New Zealand. The Commission concluded that the acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition, noting that the merged entity would remain subject to competitive pressure from rival agencies, advertiser clients with in-house capabilities, and alternative media buyers.
