Description

Fair Trade Commission fined Krafton KRW 2.5 million over alleged misleading claims relating to in-game item probabilities

On 16 June 2025, the Fair Trade Commission of South Korea fined Krafton KRW 2.5 million and issued corrective orders for misleading consumers about the acquisition probabilities of probability-based items in the video game PUBG: Battlegrounds. Krafton falsely reported probabilities ranging from 0.1414% to 0.7576% for 31 components of the processing item, while the actual chance was 0%. Additionally, it guaranteed a 100% chance to obtain the "PUBG X New Jeans Set Blueprint" on the fifth purchase after four unsuccessful attempts, despite the real probability being only 9%. The FTC’s orders include prohibiting future violations and requiring reports on measures to prevent recurrence.
