European Commission closes consultation on selection of experts for Scientific Panel supporting Artificial Intelligence Act

On 14 September 2025, the European Commission closes its call for expression of interest to select sixty independent experts for a scientific panel supporting the implementation and enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). The scientific panel is intended to advise the European AI Office and national authorities, focusing on general-purpose AI models and systems. Its tasks include advising on systemic risks, model classification, evaluation methodologies, and cross-border market surveillance, and alerting the AI Office to emerging risks.
