On 10 June 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation opened the public consultation on the draft regulations on the supervision and management of live E-commerce until 10 July 2025. The regulations assign jurisdiction over violations to county-level or higher market supervision authorities, granting them enforcement powers, including on-site inspections, review of business records, and collection of electronic evidence related to live E-commerce activity. Provincial market supervision departments must share identity and violation-related information with counterparts in other regions and coordinate with cyberspace administration departments. Regulatory authorities are empowered to impose penalties under the Anti-Unfair Competition Law of the People’s Republic of China for activities including publishing false information, commercial defamation, and other unfair practices that distort market competition.
