France: Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication acknowledges Aylo group decision to suspend access in France

Description

Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication acknowledges Aylo group decision to suspend access in France

On 3 June 2025, the French Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (ARCOM) acknowledged the decision by the Aylo group to suspend access to its content in France. The decision followed the implementation of the law on securing and regulating the digital space, which granted ARCOM the power to sanction and block pornographic sites accessible to minors. ARCOM had previously engaged with six non-compliant sites, noting that five implemented age verification solutions, while the sixth was blocked and delisted. The Aylo group chose to suspend access for all users in France. ARCOM noted that Pornhub, an Aylo group site, is accessed monthly by over one-third of adolescents aged 12 to 17, reaffirming its commitment, aligned with European institutions, to safeguard minors online. An additional decree, effective from 7 June 2025, extends ARCOM’s authority to address non-compliance by sites established within the European Union.
