European Data Protection Board published guidelines on Law and Compliance in AI Security and Data Protection

On 5 June 2025, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) published guidelines on Law and Compliance in AI Security and Data Protection. The initiative aims to provide data protection officers with comprehensive training to address skill gaps in AI security and personal data management. Developed by the EDPB under the Support Pool of Experts (SPE) programme, the guidelines offer a foundation incorporating practical case studies focused on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), and other relevant EU regulations. The guidelines underscore the importance of understanding AI's lifecycle within organisations and the implications for data protection compliance.
