Republic of Korea: Personal Information Protection Commission opened consultation on partial amendment to guidelines on public announcement and public announcement orders for violations of Personal Information Protection Act

On 29 May 2025, the Personal Information Protection Commission opened a public consultation on the partial amendment to the guidelines on public announcement and public announcement orders for violations of the Personal Information Protection Act, until 19 June 2025. The proposed amendments include the explicit inclusion of public institutions under specific conditions, revisions to the Commission's authority to order public announcements, updates to terminology regarding such orders, and adjustments to the duration table for public announcements based on the nature and severity of the violation.
