Announced investigation into Facebook for alleged user personal data breach

On 14 April 2021, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) announced the beginning of an own-initiative investigation into Facebook under section 110 of the Data Protection Act 2018. The announcement occurred in response to several foreign media reports alleging that a compiled dataset of Facebook user personal data had been made public.
