Adopted Health Confidentiality Law
On 3 January 2022, the Brazilian Senate adopted a law (no. 14.289) protecting persons with HIV, chronic hepatitis, leprosy, and tuberculosis from the disclosure of information on their health by any public or private institution. Information that could be used to identify the individuals suffering from these conditions is classified as confidential. The only exceptions apply when the individual has given consent or in cases determined by law (for just cause).
