Malaysia: Ministry of Digital adopted Order on Appointment of Date of Coming into Operation for Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 (Act A1727)

On 24 December 2024, the Ministry of Digital gazetted the commencement dates for the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 (Act A1727) in the Federal Government Gazette, acting under subsection 1(2) of the Act. The notice stipulates that sections 7, 11, 13, and 14 of the Act come into force on 1 January 2025. Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, and 12 come into force on 1 April 2025, and sections 6 and 9 come into force on 1 June 2025.
