European Union and United Arab Emirates launched negotiations on Free Trade Agreement

On 27 May 2025, the European Union and the United Arab Emirates formally launched negotiations for a bilateral Free Trade Agreement. The decision to launch negotiations was first agreed by the European Commission President and the United Arab Emirates President on 10 April 2025. The agreement aims to reduce tariffs on goods and enhance the movement of services, digital trade, and investment between the parties. The agreement is expected to lay the groundwork for cooperation in digital trade and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, Fintech, advanced digital infrastructure, space technologies, and smart logistics
