Description

Ministry of Industry and Information Technology closes consultation on recommended national standard on Testing Methods for Access Network Equipment – Interoperability of 10Gbit/s Asymmetric/Symmetric Passive Optical Network (XG-PON/XGS-PON)

On 3 June 2025, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) closes its public consultation on the recommended national standard "Testing Methods for Access Network Equipment – Interoperability of 10Gbit/s Asymmetric/Symmetric Passive Optical Network (XG-PON/XGS-PON)" (20240431-T-339). This standard outlines interoperability testing methods for XG-PON and XGS-PON systems, covering Administration and Maintenance (PLOAM) messages, the ONT Management and Control Interface (OMCI) protocol, service configuration, performance management, fault management, and security management. Designed for telecoms, broadcasting, and vertical industries, this recommended standard applies to the research and development, production, and testing of XG-PON/XGS-PON equipment. Following the consultation's conclusion, MIIT will assess stakeholder feedback to refine the standard before advancing it through the next stages of regulatory review and potential adoption.
