Facebook launches appeal against DPC's preliminary draft decision

Facebook Inc. is contesting the Irish privacy regulator's preliminary draft decision to halt data transfers from Europe to the United States. Facebook filed the action against Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) at the Irish High Court and claimed it is seeking judicial review of the DPC's decision because the data protection authority reached a preliminary determination before receiving regulatory advice from the European Data Protection Board. The DPC is through this appeal prohibited from taking any further measures to implement the conclusions of the CJEU's ruling pending the result of the judicial review procedures, as ordered by the Court on the application of Facebook.
