ASEAN-5: Association of Southeast Asian Nations adopted ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan 2026-2035

On 26 May 2025, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) adopted the ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan for the period 2026-2035 during the 46th ASEAN Summit. The plan applies to digital infrastructure providers, fintech and payment service providers, digital platform operators, and developers of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and big data solutions. It outlines measures to expand digital connectivity, enhance participation in the digital economy, and strengthen regional cooperation on cybersecurity and data governance. Key actions include promoting frontier technologies, facilitating cross-border data flows, ensuring online safety, and supporting inclusive access to digital services.
