Brunei Darussalam: Association of Southeast Asian Nations adopted ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026–2030

On 26 May 2025, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) adopted the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026–2030. The plan outlines six strategic goals to advance economic integration, resilience, and sustainability, including digital trade. The plan focuses on accelerating digital transformation, fostering innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT) and strengthening intellectual property (IP). The plan includes objectives and measures, focusing on online safety measures, data protection, cross-border data flows and interoperable digital identification.
