China: Ministry of Industry and Information Technology closed consultation on communication standards and english translations covering AI evaluation and network infrastructure

On 20 June 2025, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology closes its public consultation regarding 22 draft industry standards and foreign language versions of 6 industry standards in the communications industry. The 22 draft standards cover a range of technologies, including a 5 part framework for evaluating large-scale pretrained AI models across areas such as development, capability, application maturity, trustworthiness, and operational deployment. Additional standards address intelligent assistants, dialogue platforms, risk control systems, virtual digital humans, and facial recognition data protection. The 6 english-language translations provide international access to technical specifications for optical fibre cable types and security requirements for transport network equipment, including Optical Transport Network (OTN) and Packet Transport Network (PTN) systems.
