On 15 June 2025, the Reserve Bank of India's Digital Lending Directions, 2025 (RBI/2025-26/36), including provisions on digital lending application reporting, enters into force. The directions apply to commercial banks, co-operative banks, non-banking financial companies, and all-India financial institutions. The order requires regulated entities to report all digital lending applications they deploy or participate in, including those operated by lending service providers, on the centralised information management system portal. They must certify that these applications comply with data protection obligations, including the provision of borrower access to privacy policies, information about grievance officers, and restrictions on unauthorised data sharing.
