Description

Telecom Regulatory Authority opened consultation on draft guidelines on rating of properties for digital connectivity

On 13 May 2025, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) opened public consultation on the draft guidelines on rating of properties for digital connectivity under the Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, until 2 June 2025. The regulations apply to property developers and digital infrastructure providers, aiming to standardise how properties are rated based on digital connectivity features including fibre readiness, mobile network availability, in-building solutions, and Wi-Fi infrastructure. The draft manual outlines the methodology to be used by Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies (DCRAs) and provides guidance for Property Managers (PMs) to support the development of Digital Connectivity Infrastructure (DCI) in buildings. By establishing a transparent and uniform rating system, the regulation intends to incentivise property developers to enhance connectivity.
