South Africa: Government launched Operation Vulindlela phase 2 including digital transformation

On 7 May 2025, the President of South Africa launched the second phase of Operation Vulindlela, a reform initiative intended to support rapid and inclusive economic growth. One of the focus areas of this phase is digital transformation, pursued through the implementation of a Cabinet-approved Digital Transformation Roadmap. The roadmap outlines measures to expand the use of digital technologies in government and to develop digital public infrastructure, including a digital identity system and rapid payment platforms, to improve service access and increase financial inclusion.
