India: United Kingdom and India concluded negotiations on Free Trade Agreement including provisions on intellectual property

On 6 May 2025, the United Kingdom and India concluded negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement, including provisions to enhance patent protection by streamlining procedures, reducing administrative burdens, and speeding up processes to ensure transparency and legal certainty. The Agreement will establish protections across patents, copyright, trademarks, and geographical indications, supporting innovation. It will improve patent procedures, expand geographical indication protection, and promote ongoing United Kingdom–India cooperation.
