European Union: European Commission closes consultation on drafting communication on EU’s external digital policy

On 21 May 2025, the European Commission closes the consultation on drafting a communication on the EU’s external digital policy. The planned communication will set out a strategy to strengthen the EU’s position in global technology, reduce dependence on foreign technologies and supply chains, and promote its approach to digital standards. It will focus on coordination with Member States and EU tech companies to support technological development, cybersecurity, and international cooperation. The initiative also includes measures related to emerging technologies, talent mobility, digital governance, and global partnerships.
