India: Indonesia and India issue joint statement to explore partnerships in 5G and AI during Ministerial Meeting

On 28 April 2025, the governments of Indonesia and India issued a joint statement to explore bilateral cooperation in the fields of 5G and artificial intelligence (AI). The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration on digital infrastructure, including internet and telecommunications services, and to support the development and deployment of machine learning and AI technologies. The agreement reflects shared national priorities for digital transformation and technological self-reliance, and establishes a basis for further coordination on network hardware and equipment provision. The statement follows earlier engagements under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2025 and is expected to lead to further technical discussions ahead of a planned summit in June 2025.
