On 26 January 2022, the Pacific Alliance and Singapore Free Trade Agreement (PASFTA) was signed by Singapore, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Chapter 13 on Electronic Commerce includes a commitment by all Parties to enhance cooperation on cybersecurity. The agreement encourages Parties to share information on cybersecurity threats, incident responses, and risk management strategies, and to collaborate on capacity-building initiatives. It recognises the importance of secure digital environments for cross-border trade and calls for the development of mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between national computer security incident response teams. The agreement requires each Party to regulate unsolicited commercial email by ensuring recipients can opt out or that prior consent is obtained, and encourages measures for other digital channels, enforcement against non-compliant senders, and cooperation where appropriate.
