Amendment to Enforcement Decree enabling licensing procedures for commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles enters into force

On 30 April 2025, Presidential Decree No. 35489, amending the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Promotion and Support for the Commercialisation of Autonomous Vehicles, enters into force. The Decree establishes national authorisation procedures for fully autonomous vehicles that do not fall under existing safety standards. It mandates performance certification and conformity approval as prerequisites for commercial operation. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is designated to define performance criteria and conduct structured evaluations. The Decree also requires authorised operators to implement technological, managerial, and physical safeguards to ensure the safe operation of autonomous vehicles in the consumer mobility sector.
