Description

Cyberspace Administration released minor mode for mobile internet

On 29 April 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) released the Mobile Internet Minor Mode. The mode provides a unified operational framework across mobile terminals, applications, and app distribution platforms. Upon activation through a designated icon on supported devices, the mode enables content filtering, usage time limits, application management, and usage statistics functions. The CAC noted that manufacturers, including Huawei, OPPO, ZTE, Xiaomi, Honor, and vivo, have implemented the mode through system updates or pre-installation. App stores have introduced a minor zone, and applications across short video, social networking, education, and e-commerce have integrated the mode.
