Supreme Court announced establishment of Judicial Artificial Intelligence Committee

On 28 April 2025, the Supreme Court of South Korea launched the Judiciary Artificial Intelligence (AI) Committee as an advisory body to guide the adoption of AI technologies in judicial services. The initiative applies to developers and providers of AI tools relevant to court processes, including large language models and legal technology services. The Committee will oversee the direction and priorities of AI integration within the judiciary and review ongoing development projects and roadmaps. It will also assess the legal frameworks required for responsible implementation, including data protection and amendments to the Supreme Court rules. It will also identify initiatives to improve public access to justice and ensure support for vulnerable groups.
