On 29 April 2025, the National Council for Combating Piracy and Crimes against Intellectual Property (CNCP), under the National Consumer Secretariat, ordered Instagram to remove content promoting electronic cigarettes and related products, which are prohibited in Brazil. Instagram was given 48 hours to comply and asked to enhance its control mechanisms. A CNCP survey identified 1,637 such advertisements on Instagram, the highest among the platforms reviewed, in relation to applicable Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency resolutions and national legislation.
