China: National Data Development Research Institute was established under National Data Administration

On April 25, 2025, the National Data Administration (NDA) announced the establishment of the National Data Development Research Institute. Operating under the NDA, the institute is intended to support national priorities related to data development and reform. Its responsibilities include conducting research on foundational, forward-looking and strategic issues in the data domain, proposing policy recommendations for the integration and sharing of data resources, contributing to the development of data-related systems and evaluating major projects. The institute will also support the advancement of platforms for computing power monitoring and scheduling, assist in the development of datasets and corpora, and promote international collaboration in the data sector.
