European Union: European Union and Singapore published Digital Trade Agreement including principles for addressing cybersecurity risks

On 8 April 2025, the European Union and Singapore published the Agreement on Digital Trade, which includes provisions on cybersecurity. The agreement states that the Parties recognise the evolving nature of cyber threats and the impact on digital trade. The agreement provides that the Parties shall endeavour to build the capabilities of their national cybersecurity incident response entities and to share information on cybersecurity incidents and practices. It further provides that the Parties shall endeavour to use and promote risk-based approaches for cybersecurity, relying on standards developed in a consensus-based, transparent and open manner, for identifying, protecting against, detecting, responding to and recovering from cybersecurity incidents.
