Bill amending Game Industry Promotion Act (Law No. 20485) including operational license requirement entered into force

On 23 April 2025, the Bill amending the Act on the Promotion of the Game Industry entered into force, formally requiring designated game businesses to obtain an operational license before offering their services. Under the Bill, companies involved in operating game distribution platforms, providing cloud gaming services, or facilitating other regulated activities must apply for and receive authorisation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).
