On 23 April 2025, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced that 47 companies were selected for the 2025 user protection evaluation, including basic telecommunications providers such as SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+, as well as value-added service providers such as Google, Meta Platforms, Naver, and newly added platforms such as Temu, Coupang Eats, and Tving. The evaluation includes indicators assessing the appropriateness of user protection frameworks and the adoption of safeguards to reduce risks of service-related harm. These regulatory indicators cover areas such as timely processing of transactions, accuracy of service-related information, and responsiveness to user complaints and operational issues. Evaluation methods include submission reviews, on-site inspections, interviews with designated personnel, and user satisfaction and automated response system feedback. Companies rated highly may receive commendations and be eligible for reductions in administrative penalties, while results will guide future regulatory planning and criteria for service safety and quality performance.
