On 22 April 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China issued Guidelines for the Construction of the National Intelligent Manufacturing Standard System (2024 Edition). These guidelines aim to establish a comprehensive framework for standardisation in smart manufacturing, targeting sectors such as electronics, aerospace, and automotive. By 2026, the MIIT plans to develop 100 standards structured across three tiers, namely basic common standards focusing on safety and workforce qualifications, technical standards covering smart equipment and supply chains, and industry application standards specific to 14 sectors.
