On 14 April 2025, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) opened a consultation on the draft Updated Privacy Framework until 13 June 2025. The updated draft aims to address current privacy risk management needs, align with the recently updated NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, and enhance usability. The draft includes targeted revisions to the Core section, a new section on artificial intelligence (AI) and privacy risk management, and the relocation of use guidelines to an interactive online platform.
