United Kingdom government allocated GBP 121 million investments in quantum technology to address crime, fraud, and money laundering

On 14 April 2025, the United Kingdom government announced that it allocated GBP 121 million to advance quantum technology development under the National Quantum Strategy. This funding will support quantum computing applications for cybersecurity, including fraud detection and anti-money laundering systems. The investment will enable quantum-enhanced analysis of complex financial data patterns to identify illicit activities more effectively. The programme includes GBP 46.1 million for quantum technology deployment across computing and sensing applications, GBP 21 million for the National Quantum Computing Centre's testbed programme, and GBP 10.9 million for quantum measurement development at the National Physical Laboratory.
